Promise of Hope Foundation Fundraiser Receives Pro Support
Organizers hope the fundraiser will be an annual celebration.

The Promise of Hope Foundation held its first Celebration of Life Breast Cancer Fundraiser at Sterling Gardens in Matawan. The event featured remarks from Phil Villapiano, a former Pro Bowl linebacker for the Oakland Raiders, and Dr. Jorge Padres, imaging director at the Jacqueline Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center.
“We are on a mission and on a journey of hope,” Promise of Hope President Michele Rodger said in a press statement. “The mission is to make a difference in the lives of those who have been touched by this disease, and we will make a difference.”
Promise of Hope is a community-based organization founded by Keysha Berry, whose mother, Kendra L. Berry, is a 13-year breast cancer survivor. The organization shares information, provides support and screenings and helps fund research into non-toxic and alternative cancer treatments.

“Unfortunately, most cancer victims are not as fortunate as my mother, whose bountiful support and resources during this trying time made the difference in healing,” Keysha Berry said. “Today, I take on this fight where it's needed most – on a local, state and national level with Promise of Hope, Inc. I am passionate about taking every lesson I learned during my mother’s fight and sharing it with everyone to ensure they are supported from start to finish.”
