Possible Theft at Union Beach Firehouse

The incident occurred during a hall rental at the firehouse, firefighters said.

Police are investigating a report of a possible theft at the Union Beach Fire Co. #1 firehouse Saturday night, according to NJ.com and the Asbury Park Press. The firehouse is on Florence Avenue.

Union Beach Fire Co. #1 released this statement on their Facebook page:

To all concerned: There was an incident involving a hall rental at our firehouse. All firefighters are safe and the building is secure. The incident is being investigated by the local police department. We cannot comment further due to the active investigation. Thank you all for your concern.

Calls made by reporters to the Union Beach Police were not immediately returned. Earlier reports mentioned a possible armed robbery at the firehouse, but that has not been confirmed.
