Republican Candidate to Challenge Aberdeen Mayor in 2013 Election
Four candidates also filed to run for the two open council seats.

Republican Augustine Toomey III filed to be a mayoral candidate on the ballot for the June 4 primary election, as did democratic incumbent Fred Tagliarini.
Toomey previously ran for the township council in 2011, but was not elected.
Four Aberdeen residents also filed to be on the ballot for the two open council seats by the April 1 deadline. Deputy Mayor Margaret Montone and Joseph Martucci will seek the democratic nomination while Michael Vail and Edward Failla will seek the republican nomination.

Councilman James Lauro (D) will not seek re-election.
The term for a council member is three years.

Independent candidates have until June to register for the general election ballot. The primaries will be held on Tuesday, June 4 and the general election is Tuesday, Nov. 5.
