Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hosts 5th Annual Amazing Saves Picnic in Millstone Township, Honoring Holmdel Resident Timmy McDonnell

This year's picnic honored Timmy McDonnell, 21, who survived a life-threatening head injury thanks to the care he received from RWJUH

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital’s Level I Trauma Center hosted its 5th Annual Amazing Saves Picnic at Black Bear Lake Country Club in Millstone Township on Sunday, June 7, 2015. The event had a great turnout and it included a day full of family fun activities such as laser tag, Segway rides, rock-climbing wall, dunking tank, face painting, water sports and paddle boats, with a buffet lunch. This year’s picnic honored Timmy McDonnell, 21, who was a Rutgers University junior when he was struck by a car on Easton Avenue in New Brunswick last October. Timmy suffered a severe, life-threatening head injury that left him with a brain bleed and in a coma. He was able to survive this serious injury thanks to the expert care he received from RWJUH’s Trauma Team and Critical Care Nursing staff. Following a lengthy inpatient physical rehabilitation stay, Timmy continues his recovery and hopes to return to Rutgers one day to complete his education. RWJUH was proud to honor Timmy and his family during this special day and wish him all the best as he continues his recovery.
