Roller Derby Bout To Raise Money For Local Animal Shelter

A September 24 roller derby bout at Tab Ramos Sports Center in Aberdeen will serve as a fundraiser for Tails of Hope, a nonprofit animal shelter based in Oakhurst.

The doors open at 5:30 p.m. Saturday September 24, and the whistle for the first game is 6:30 p.m. This event features the high-intensity sport of women’s flat-track roller derby in a double header of games: the Jersey Shore Roller Girls All-Stars versus Two Rivers Roller Derby, followed by the host team the Central Jersey Roller Vixens playing Shoreline Roller Derby from Connecticut.
Also part of the festivities is a short demonstration game of how roller derby is played, provided by the Jersey Junior Roller Derby League, a youth league based in Jackson.

A portion of the proceeds will go toward Tails of Hope. Donations of pet food, toys and treats for kitten and puppies are welcome, and some of the shelter pets will be visiting the sports center that day.

Tickets can be purchased at tinyurl.com/sept24bout or at the door that day. Tab Ramos is located at 16 Blair Road, Aberdeen.

Mark your calendar for the other remaining Central Jersey Roller Vixens home games: a November 12 bout to benefit veterans charities and December 10 for holiday toy drive.
