Sayreville Man Sentenced In DUI Motorbike Crash That Killed Woman

Prosecutors say he had been drinking before driving the motorcycle north on Rt. 35 through Old Bridge; both he and she were ejected.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — A Sayreville man was sentenced last week to eight years in state prison for causing a fatal motorcycle crash that killed his passenger on Rt. 35 north in Old Bridge Township.

His passenger was a South Amboy woman, 36, who was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene. Police say Jack Piatek, 29, of Sayreville, had been drinking and driving.

The fatal crash happened at about 11:50 p.m. on July 16, 2020: Prosecutors say Piatek was driving the motorcycle under the influence of alcohol when he lost control, ejecting both him and his passenger, Jessica Vinsko, 36, of South Amboy, off the bike.

She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Piatek was charged with multiple offenses and later pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated.

He was sentenced Thursday, Feb. 24. Piatek must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. When he is released, he will lose his license for 15 years.
