SOUTH RIVER, NJ — It was a group of alert fellow juveniles that helped South River police safely locate a missing child on Saturday.
On Saturday, Nov. 4, South River police sent out a Nixle alert about a missing 12-year-old boy in the town. Christopher Scott Wynn, pictured above, was last seen carrying a black backpack near South River Middle School on Friday.
A group of five juveniles spotted someone who matched the description of the missing child and call 911. Patrol units and detectives immediately responded to the location and the missing child was subsequently located and quickly reunited with his parents.

"Although we can't release the names of the juveniles who placed the 911 call, the South River Police Department would like to publicly thank them," the police wrote on Facebook. "Their actions allowed us to quickly and safely locate the child. Social media continues to be a powerful tool for our department and, often times, residents are our biggest eyes on the street."
Photo released Saturday by South River police of the missing child.
