SUPERKIDS Stand Up To Bullying!

Local children pledge to Take Action & Stand Up to Bullying learning how to Identify, Avoid & Stop Bullying.

Local Children participate in a FREE Done with Bullying Workshop on Saturday, October 11th hosted by The Martial Arts Arena and sponsored by Investors Bank. The purpose of this workshop is to help children of all ages overcome the negative impact of bullying. This workshop teaches participants the 3 As; Awareness, Avoidance, Assertiveness.

Research shows that bullying peaks in the 5th, 6th & 7th. The goal of this program is to minimize the effects of predatory behavior in grade school and middle school-aged children. This will be accomplished through role playing, small group discussions and empathy training.

Although the program can be taught in four sessions over the course of several workshops, the workshop on Saturday, October 11th will be a single intensive. This program is designed for dealing with school and neighborhood scenarios. Topics include:

  • Part I - What is bullying? Why do people do it? Why is it bad to bully others?
  • Part II - What should we/shouldn’t we do when we see others being bullied?
  • Part III - How should you deal with bullying?
  • Part IV - Buddying

This dynamic workshop is all about the process. Children learn more quickly and retain information longer when they are involved. Well-placed questions, role-playing, soliciting answers and getting feedback make the workshop not only enjoyable but also educational.

Students are committed to memorize the Anti-Bullying Pledge and are participating in the Take Action and Influencers Contests to help raise awareness. They have been actively engaged in learning and using the Upstander Tactics to help other children that may be bullied.
