ABERDEEN, NJ - Aberdeen Township police were victims of a hoax or swatting-type incident this week that involved a woman screaming for help in a wooded area.
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, Feb. 7, police were called to a report of a female screaming for help in a wooded area, Aberdeen Police Chief John Powers said. Upon arrival officers could hear a female voice calling for help at five-second intervals. Officers searched the area for 90 minutes using a thermal imaging camera, but were unable to locate anyone.
They then checked the phone number of the reporting party, but it came back to a non-working number and the address given was non-existent. The call was possibly a hoax or a swatting incident, Chief Powers said.
