Thunderstorms Increasing, Strong Winds, Frequent Lightning Possible

Thunderstorms are expected to increase through 5 p.m. Thursday in Monmouth County and some downpours could lead to localized flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong, damaging winds, with gusts up to 40 mph an hour, could accompany some of those storms.

Frequent lightning is also possible.

And there may be brief flooding in areas with drainage problems. According to the weather service, if you hear thunder, seek shelter immediately.
