180 Turning Lives Around will be conducting its annual DVRT (Domestic Violence Response Team) 40 Hr Training course starting October 14th through November 6th, 2014, Tues/Wed/Thurs evenings 6p-9p. The DVRT advocates are civilian members of the community trained to work in collaboration with local law enforcement throughout Monmouth County to assist victims of domestic violence at their time of crisis. The trained volunteer advocates provide emotional support, local resources and options available to victims. Identities of advocates are kept anonymous. Requirements are msut be 18yrs of age and older, access to reliable transportation/valid drivers license, submit to a background investigation, fingerprinting and able to complete the mandatory 40 hr training. Prior knowledge of domestic violence not required, bi-lingual volunteers also needed.
