Woman, 92, Found Dead In Sayreville Home; High CO Levels Present
Breaking: Gladys Viteri, 92, was found dead inside a home on Washington Road. A 58-year-old man was found alive, but very disoriented.

SAYREVILLE, NJ — A 92-year-old woman was found dead Sunday inside a home in Sayreville, and a 58-year-old man also there was found conscious, but very disoriented. There were unsafe levels of carbon monoxide inside the home, police said.
Police entered the home on Washington Road at 3:03 p.m. Sunday. They were called there after receiving a 911 call of an unresponsive person. Inside the home, officers found Gladys Viteri, 92, deceased. They also located Jose Peixoto, a 58-year-old man, who was conscious but very disorientated.
The home had high levels of carbon monoxide inside and the breathing conditions were toxic, Sayreville police Capt. Daniel Plumacker confirmed to Patch.

Sayreville First Aid Squad along with medics from Raritan Bay were called to treat the man. He was airlifted to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in the Bronx. By Monday afternoon, he was out of intensive care, but remained in the hospital.
The exact cause of the woman's death is pending. Detectives as well as Sayreville Code Enforcement are continuing the investigation.
