Woodbridge police arrested a Monmouth County man who they say broke into cars in the Avenel section of town.
Ernest LaPointe, 38, of Waterwitch Avenue, Highlands was charged with two counts of burglary and one count each of obstructing the administration of law, resisting arrest and possession of Oxycodone.

Just after 10 p.m. Sunday, police received a call about a burglary to a 2013 GMC pick-up truck on East Woodbridge Avenue.
The caller said the truck owner was chasing the suspect - later identified as LaPointe.

When officers arrived, they learned the victim had lost sight of LaPointe, but another officer soon spotted him several blocks away on Route 1.
That officer ran after LaPointe and caught him. After a brief struggle he was taken into custody.
Police also determined LaPointe had entered the victim’s other vehicle - a 2011 Mitsubishi Wagon.
He was sent to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, with bail set at $2,500.
