2017 Chester Lions Club 19th Annual Oktoberfest and Car Show a Great Success!

The Chester Lions Club recently held their 19^th Annual Oktoberfest and Car Show at Chubb Park in Chester. Family fun, community involvement and charitable fundraising all made the event a resounding success.

The hungry crowd enjoyed authentic German fare including bratwurst, smoked pork chops, Bavarian pretzels and potato salad, and marvelous desserts like beehive cake and apple strudel. Of course, a favorite of the event was the specially brewed Oktoberfest beers. Attending families also enjoyed the many activities for young and old alike, including a car show, live music by Die Spitzbaum, bounce houses and games.

Numerous civic-minded individuals, businesses and organizations from the community were instrumental in the event’s success. A special thanks to those who donated their time, service and more including Alstede Farms, Ort Farms, Chester First Aid Squad, Chester Police Department, Chester Volunteer Fire Company, the Harrington Family, R&R Construction, our local Boy Scouts, 50+ Club, the service clubs at West Morris Mendham High School and West Morris Central High School, the Chester Lionesses, and others. Everyone helped the Lions in their quest to fulfill their motto “We Serve”.

The Chester Lions Club also gratefully acknowledges the generous support of the many sponsors and suppliers of our Oktoberfest. Special thanks go out to all of them - we could not have done it without you!

With your support the Chester Lions Club will continue its mission to help others. This year’s proceeds have been earmarked for hurricane relief. In previous years the proceeds from the Oktoberfest have been donated to numerous charities including sixteen different charities related to sight conservation, the Seeing Eye, NJ Battered Women’s Shelter, Community Hope natural disaster relief as well as local organizations such as local food banks, Fire Departments and First Aid Squads.
