The 38th Annual Chester Science Fair will be held from 9AM-2PM, Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Black River Middle School.
The fair provides students in grades K-8 an opportunity to create and present projects to a panel of judges in STEAM fields and educators from the community. The fair is open to all residents of the Chesters. Students may register at www.chestersciencefair.org.
Students also have the option to compete for special awards presented by independent judges provided by the award sponsor. This year’s special awards are Alstede Agricultural Achievement; Bayer Science for a Better Life; Chandler Engineering Design; Chemistry and Physics; Chester / Long Valley Rotary Club Global Health; Chester Twp. Police Forensic Science; Environmental; Montclair State University Food Science; NJ State Nurse Association; Psychology; Schiff Nature, Garden, and Ecology; and Veterinary Scholar.

There will be special exhibitors throughout the day including: Black River Middle School: CO2 Dragster RaceTrack; Chester Parks Department; Chester Police; County College of Morris: Litmus Test of Household Items; Delaware Valley Raptor Center: Close Encounters with Birds of Prey; Extreme Volleyball Challenge; Morris County Division of Mosquito Control: Mosquito and Tick Biology and Prevention; NJ Beekeepers Association; Raritan Watershed Association: Benthic Macroinvertebrates as Indicators of Water Quality; Rizzo's Reptile Discovery: Live Animal Exhibit; Rutgers University Food Science Graduate Student Association: Gummy Worms; Rutgers University Science, Math, and Engineering Organizations (RUSMEO) Chemistry sets / Snap circuits; Schiff Nature Preserve; Science Fair Committee: Design and Building Challenges; and Sterling Hill Mines.
The fair relies on corporate sponsors with donations ranging from $250 - $5000+. Support is recognized through display of corporate logos on the fair website and through banners displayed at the fair in various project and exhibit spaces. This year, Bayer is once again a Diamond sponsor, Regeneron is a Gold sponsor, BASF and County College of Morris are Silver sponsors, and The Tutoring Center and Science Screen Report are Bronze level sponsors.
