50 Years and Growing at St. Joseph School in Mendham
Catholic institution coming off Blue Ribbon designation in 2012-13.

On Sept. 3, St. Joseph School in Mendham opened its doors to students for the 50th consecutive year, a milestone that came with years of growing and teaching.
In 1963 the Catholic institution opened with grades one through four under the direction of the Missionary Sisters of Immaculate Conception, according to the school. In 1971, it was transferred to Mendham’s Sisters of Christian Charity.
From 1964 on, a grade was added until the school could accommodate students in grades one through eight.

Building on its 2012 National Blue Ribbon of Excellence designation, St. Joseph’s will offer a variety of events throughout its 50th year for alumni and school families to come together and commemorate the school’s half-century of success.
Now enrolling 238 students, the private school is available for classes from PreK to eighth grade.

The school kicked off its big year with a float in the Mendham Labor Day Parade recently. Since 2000, the St. Joseph’s has been designated a “Star School” by the Paterson Diocese.
