All Schools Closed In Mendham, Chester Due To Icy Weather

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Morris County.

MENDHAM/CHESTER, NJ — All schools in Mendham Township, Mendham Borough and Chester are closed Friday due to the forecast for freezing rain and dangerous, icy road conditions.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Morris County from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday. Freezing rain is expected with total ice accumulations of a light glaze, according to the National Weather Forecast.

This will create very slippery sidewalks, roads, and especially bridges and overpasses are possible.

Friday: Periods of rain before 1 p.m, then freezing rain between 1 and 4 p.m., then freezing rain and sleet likely after 4 p.m. High near 47. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Total daytime ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. Little or no sleet accumulation expected.

Friday Night: A chance of freezing rain and sleet before 7 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. North wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no sleet accumulation expected.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 25. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 11. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 31. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the morning.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 19.
