CHESTER, NJ — Chester Township is offering a full-time paid internship for the summer of 2026, with the position available in May, according to an employment posting from the township.
The opportunity is aimed at recent college graduates and current college students seeking local government experience in a municipal office.
According to the posting, the internship is based in a township office that handles the day-to-day administrative functions of the municipality. The township said the candidate should have an interest in public administration and be able to assist with general filing, organization of hard copy and digital files, scanning, and other clerical work as requested.
The intern will also accompany the zoning official on site inspections. That part of the position is intended to give the intern field experience in land use and municipal enforcement, according to the township.
Prior experience working in an office environment is preferred, and the position pays $20 per hour for 35 hours a week.
Interested candidates are asked to send a cover letter, resume, and reference list to Kathy Potter, Chester Township's deputy administrator/clerk, at kpotter@chestertownship.org. The job application can be found online here.
For applicants interested in public administration, land use, or municipal operations, the position provides a paid summer role within Chester Township government. The township's posting says the internship will begin in May 2026.
