MENDHAM BOROUGH, NJ — Mendham Borough School District marked student achievement in music, dance, and visual art during its annual Festival of the Arts last week, welcoming families and community members to programs at Mountain View Middle School and Hilltop Elementary School.
The district said the event celebrated the creativity, dedication, and accomplishments of students across multiple artistic disciplines. Throughout the afternoon, students performed vocal selections, instrumental solos, and ensemble pieces, along with dance performances and cultural presentations. Student artists also displayed visual work in the hallways of both schools.
According to the district, the festival is designed to give students a chance to share their work with the school community while highlighting the role of arts education in student development. The district said those experiences help students build skills that support success in and out of the classroom.
“The Festival of the Arts is one of our favorite traditions because it provides students with an opportunity to share their passions and talents with our school community,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mitzi Morillo. “We are proud of the work the students have accomplished throughout the year and grateful to our talented teachers who inspire and support them every day.”
The event also served as a public look at the district’s broader arts program, which includes performance-based and visual arts opportunities for students. The Board of Education and district administration continue to support arts education as part of what the district described as a well-rounded educational experience for students.
The district said it plans to hold the event next year at the new Mendham Borough School District Performing Arts Center. That facility was approved by the community in the January 2025 bond referendum.
This year’s festival centered on student work already completed during the school year, giving families a chance to see and hear the results of classroom instruction and practice. By spreading displays and performances across Mountain View Middle School and Hilltop Elementary School, the district created space for a range of student artists and performers to be featured during the celebration.
