MENDHAM, NJ — Brookside's Fourth of July Parade is returning on Saturday, July 4, with a 9 a.m. start, and organizers are asking the community to help pay for it.
In a recent announcement, the Brookside Community Club said this year's parade will recognize and celebrate "America - 250 years!" The group described the event as Brookside's "Grandest Little Hometown Parade" and said it is proud of the parade's history and community spirit.
The club said it has long covered parade costs with help from donations from residents in the Mendhams. The announcement also said Mendham Township does not donate money toward the parade, prompting this year's public appeal for support.
"Please consider donating to keep the grandest little hometown parade marching along," the Brookside Community Club wrote. The group added, "Because Mendham Township does not donate money towards the Parade, we kindly ask for everyone’s help this year. We cannot do it alone!"
The announcement asks residents to make a donation to help fund this year's celebration. It says tax-deductible checks can be made payable to "Brookside Fourth of July Parade" and mailed to P.O. Box 168, Brookside, NJ 07926. Donations can also be made through Venmo at @Brooksideparade, according to the announcement.
The Brookside Community Club thanked residents in advance for their support and said it looks forward to seeing people at the parade on July 4.
