The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with a guided walking tour of the cemetery led by Pat Maio and Ruth Willis.

During the tour, Maio and Willis will share stories about Revolutionary War soldiers buried on the church grounds. Attendees will also receive a newly created brochure and walking tour map highlighting the local soldiers and their histories.

At 6 p.m., the celebration will move into the church sanctuary, where organist Jim Wynne will perform patriotic hymns before a presentation by local historian Joel Farkus.

Following the presentation, attendees can gather in the church's Fletcher Room for light refreshments.

Admission is free, although donations will be accepted. The event is open to the public. Hilltop Church is located at 20 Hilltop Road in Mendham.

The church itself has ties to the Revolutionary War era.

Founded in 1738, Hilltop Church has been part of the Mendham community for more than 285 years. During the winter of 1777, the church served as a smallpox hospital for soldiers in George Washington's Continental Army, according to the church.
