Background

Questions

1. Why are you running for this position?

I am running for Mendham Borough Council because our town is at a critical juncture that demands steady, experienced, transparent, and resident-first leadership. After more than 16 years living here, raising our three children through the local schools, coaching youth baseball for five years, serving on the Recreation Committee, running a law practice and the Mendham Creamery right in town, I have seen firsthand how Council decisions shape families, taxpayers, local businesses, and the character of the place we all love.

My goal is to restore professional, collaborative, and accountable governance in the Borough.

2. What do you believe to be the most pressing issue in the community, and what do you intend to do about it if elected?

The most pressing issues are:

(a) protecting taxpayers through disciplined fiscal management

(b) responsibly managing New Jersey's state-mandated affordable-housing obligations

(c) preserving Mendham's historic small-town character amid development pressures.

If elected, I will push for multi-year budgeting and realistic long-term capital planning so taxes remain stable and surplus is not relied upon as a recurring crutch; ensure any development respects our scale, historic district, and Main Street corridor; prioritize infrastructure and public-safety needs; restore proper Council-driven processes with full resident input and transparency; and pursue shared services, aggressive grant funding, and operational efficiencies.

3. What qualifications and qualities do you possess that make you best suited for the position?

I bring more than 24 years of high-stakes litigation experience, the rigorous New Jersey Supreme Court certification as a Matrimonial Law Attorney (recertified every four years), hands-on experience founding and operating both a law firm and a local business (Mendham Creamery), and current service on the Supreme Court-appointed District XA Ethics Committee.

These roles required managing budgets, staff, compliance, complex planning, risk reduction, and ethical decision-making under pressure. I am analytical and fact-driven, fiscally disciplined, collaborative when possible yet decisive when needed, and deeply invested in this community as a longtime resident, parent, coach, and small-business owner. As a court-approved mediator, I am committed to building consensus and non-partisan, professional leadership that puts Mendham first.

4. The establishment of data centers in municipalities is a contentious point of discussion among New Jerseyans. What is your stance on these controversial buildings, and how would you feel about one being built in your community?

Data centers raise legitimate concerns about enormous energy and water consumption, noise, infrastructure strain, potential utility-rate impacts on residential taxpayers, and compatibility with community character. Consistent with my core commitment to preserving Mendham's historic small-town identity, protecting local control over land use, and safeguarding property taxpayers, I oppose any large-scale or hyperscale data-center development that would be inconsistent with our Master Plan, zoning, and residential/historic character. Mendham's limited available land and small-town scale make such facilities particularly unsuitable.

I support the Borough's efforts (including the proposed Resolution #159-2026) to defend municipal home-rule authority against any state preemption, incentives, or policies that would force or subsidize these facilities without local consent. Decisions about whether, where, and under what conditions any such use might ever be considered must remain with local elected officials and land-use boards accountable to residents — not distant state mandates. My focus remains proactive planning, historic preservation, and development that strengthens rather than undermines the community we cherish.

5. In a few words, what is your favorite thing about your community?

The true strong sense of community, our historic small-town character, and the way families genuinely care about and invest in one another, our local schools, and our youth.
