Aoyama Set To Reopen In Mendham After Fire
Aoyama Chinese and Japanese was shuttered last year after a fire in King's Shopping Center.

MENDHAM, NJ — After a garbage truck fire forced the closure of Aoyama Chinese and Japanese in December, the Mendham restaurant is reopening for business this Wednesday, a restaurant employee confirmed.
A sign outside the restaurant says a grand reopening will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 4. An employee who answered the phone Tuesday afternoon confirmed they would be open on Wednesday.
Aoyama serves a variety of Chinese and Japanese dishes, including sushi. They offer dine-in or take-out options.

Aoyama was one of four businesses damaged after a garbage truck caught on fire and exploded behind the King's Shopping Center on Dec. 28. Aoyama and the Chocolate Shoppe were mainly damaged by water, while Country Coffee Shop and Village Pizza suffered the majority of the fire damage.
The Chocolate Shoppe is expected to re-open in Long Valley later this fall. According to a Facebook post, the Country Coffee Shop "doesn't look like" it'll be reopening, the owners said. It's unclear if Village Pizza will be reopening.
