Atlantic Health's Security System Named Among Nation's Best

The security team and its chief that oversees operations for Atlantic Health System, headquartered in Morristown, has been recognized for its outstanding work by CSO Magazine.

For the third consecutive year, Chief Alan Robinson and his team were honored as part of the CSO50, which recognizes the top 50 security projects and initiatives that “have delivered groundbreaking business value through the innovative application of risk and security concepts and technologies,” according to a statement from Atlantic Health.

The magazine recognized the Atlantic Health System security team for its work in securing nuclear and radiological material in a health care environment while overseeing Morristown, Overlook, Newton, and Chilton hospitals as well as Goryeb Children’s Hospital.

In 2012 nearly 80-percent of high-risk hospitals failed to implement safeguards to secure radiological material that could be used in a “dirty bomb.” Robinson and his crew took action and partnered with the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Global Threat Reduction Initiative Domestic Threat Reduction Program to make its buildings safer.

“As an institution that provides the community with the highest level of health care, our approach to security must also involve protecting the community outside our walls,” said Robinson in a statement. “This includes making sure our resources are protected and used only in the pursuit of healing.”

Robinson was also honored by the magazine with the 2015 CSO Compass Award for demonstrating innovation achievement and leadership in security. Robinson has led Atlantic Health System’s security since 1996.
