Beloved Chester Café Owner Retires, New Owners To Take Over

An NJ-based pair of 'small-batch artisan roasters' will take over the coffee shop.

CHESTER— A locally beloved café has announced it will be changing owners after roughly 15 years of serving the Chester community.

Maria’s Coffee, located at 56 Main Street in Chester, has been operating since 2012, providing the people of Chester with Italian treats, coffees, and more.

“The memories that were shared over a cup of coffee over the years were priceless. First dates, engagements, weddings, births of our children, and losing loved ones— What a journey it’s been,” said owner Maria Solano. “I want to thank everyone that supported me over the years. I am truly grateful and will miss you all.”

Solano herself started out as a customer in search of fresh, high-quality baked goods. A 30-year resident of Chester, Solano opened up the café in Chester as a means of providing the quality she sought.

Since then, she’s been providing hungry customers with breakfast items, pastries, and coffee in the morning and soups, salads, and sandwiches around lunchtime, all in a comfortable atmosphere.

Taking over the café will be Mark and Susanna Linderman of South Side Coffee Co., a New Jersey-based coffee company. The small-batch artisan roasters have been providing “high-quality specialty coffee” to residents across the state, primarily through their coffee truck.

“Please continue to support them and your town shops, it is very important for our community,” Solano said.

Solano’s last day at the coffee shop will be Monday.
