Beloved Fishing Contest Returns To Mendham: See Details

The Mendham Borough PBA's annual Fishing Frenzy is returning this weekend.

MENDHAM, NJ — The Mendham Borough Police Benevolent Association's Fishing Frenzy will be returning this weekend.

On Sunday, dozens of fisherfolk will gather at Mountain Valley Park on Mountain Avenue from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to compete in the Fishing Frenzy.

Participants can expect free food and drinks, including snacks and ice cream. Fishing poles and bait will also be provided, but supplies are limited, so organizers ask participants to bring their own poles if possible.

Also in attendance will be the Trout Unlimited Hacklebarney Chapter, which will help kids with fishing tips and teach them about the activity.

The pond will be stocked with Rainbow Trout.

See the rules and regulations below:

1. The Fishing Frenzy is open to any child under the age of 16. State law requires anyone between the ages of 16 and 69 to have a fishing license.

2. Although there is no fee, participants must sign in before fishing at the event.

3. State law requires each person fishing to keep up to six trout, all of which must be at least nine inches long.

4. No lures or three-prong hooks are allowed.
