Mendham and the New Jersey Highlands
Mendham, NJ –
On Thursday, August 20th at 7pm the Mendham Township Library with host Mendham and the New Jersey Highlands with Dylan Medici, Director of Outreach and Education at the New Jersey Highlands Coalition.
Join Dylan Medici, Director of Outreach and Education at the New Jersey Highlands Coalition for a talk on the ecology, history and importance of the New Jersey Highlands: a region spanning almost 860,000 acres in Northern New Jersey, that provides 70% of the state's residents with clean drinking water. Dylan will also discuss Mendham's place in the Highlands, and how residents can get involved in advocating for the protection of their community's natural, scenic and cultural resources in the face of emerging threats such as climate change, flooding, and inappropriate development.
The New Jersey Highlands Coalition advocates for the protection of the Highlands’ natural and cultural resources, including its water on which over 70% of New Jersey’s population, its economy, and its viability rely. Through the Highlands Advocate Program, individuals can learn about the critical issues impacting the Highlands region and how to stand up for resource protection and sustainable development. The program is completely voluntary and training is conducted through a series of self-directed slideshows and webinars provided below, we will add more as we develop them. The Coalition is always looking for motivated community members throughout the Highlands and in Northern New Jersey to participate in this exciting program.
