Gardening at the Mendham Township Library.
Waterwise Gardens are attractive, easily maintained and help to conserve water. Utilizing a water wise plan can help your yard stay healthy while saving you money and time in watering. Join Master Gardener, Diane Lattanzio, as she discusses efficient irrigation techniques, selecting drought tolerant plants, mulching flower beds and gardens, and best practices for watering lawns.
About Diane Lattanzio:
During her 33 years as an elementary special education teacher, Diane shared her passion for plants and love of the outdoors with her young students who mastered math and science skills through many hands-on gardening experiences. Upon her retirement, Diane enrolled in the Rutgers Master Gardener Program and has been a certified master gardener since 2015. As a trained volunteer, she currently represents the Morris County Master Gardeners Speakers Bureau presenting talks on a variety of horticultural topics. Diane is also a member of the Riverview Garden Club, where she assists in maintaining the gardens at a historic museum home and currently serves as Vice President of Programs and Activities. As a Friend of the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, Diane volunteers and gives informational talks to home gardeners.

Warren County Farmers' Fair featuring the Balloon Festival

Celebrating the American Farmer &amp; Family Traditions since 1937!
The Warren County Farmers’ Fair is more than an agricultural fair. It boasts a hot air balloon festival, and a variety of shows and competitions you don’t often find in today’s world of digital entertainment. From demolition derbies and a rodeo, to fry pan throwing and rubber chicken tosses, the Fair provides a great variety of entertainment for all! 
Located in Harmony Township, NJ – just a few minutes north of Phillipsburg and minutes off Rt. 78 – the Fair runs from Saturday, July 25 to Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Join us for a Fireworks celebration on Sunday night, July 26, at dusk (rain date Monday). The fireworks show in celebration of our nation’s 250 years of freedom is provided courtesy of the Warren County Board of County Commissioners.
The Fair itself celebrates 88 years of affordable family fun. Admission is only $10 for an adult, and $5 for children ages 6 through 12, with 5 and under being free, as well as free parking. Advance admission tickets are available online, handling fees apply.
Fair admission includes access to the balloon festival. It’s like two events for the price of one. If you’ve never been to a balloon festival, the balloons come out in the evening, with a 6:30 pm launch time. Full flight balloon rides are available and may be scheduled in advance to ensure your spot. Email <a href="mailto:fly@balloonfestnj.com">fly@balloonfestnj.com</a> to inquire about pricing and to reserve. Tethered rides are available each evening on a first-come, first-served basis, ranging from $20-$30 per person. The tentative start time is around 5 pm, weather conditions permitting. Patience is appreciated for these popular rides – especially for little ones – as passenger safety comes first.

Saturday, July 25 also features the Farmers’ Fair Fight Fest Combat Robots clashing all day down at the Kids’ Corral.
Sunday, July 26 is Veteran’s Day with free admission for Veterans and active duty military. Monday, July 27 is Seniors Day, with free admission when you show your Medicare card. Stop by a little early and enjoy the free Senior Expo, from 1:30-4 pm, on the dance floor. Seniors can participate in the Senior Chicken in the Pan Toss at 2:30 pm. 
Enjoy Carnival Rides specials throughout the week. Every day you can ride all the rides with a wristband special of $35. Purchase single tickets for $2 each (rides require different numbers of tickets) or save on a Family Pack of 20 tickets for $30 or a Super Saver of 45 tickets $60.

Join Project Coordinator of Deer New Jersey, Joe Basralian as he highlights the crisis of areas where deer herd densities are very high. He will discuss opportunities to collaborate for responsible, ethical deer stewardship. The mission of Deer New Jersey, is to achieve a natural balance in our home state by supporting a deer stewardship movement for the people, wildlife and land we love. The vision is a future where New Jersey’s land, wildlife, and communities thrive, stewarded by all of us. 
 
About Joe Basralian: 
Joe is the Project Coordinator of Deer New Jersey, an initiative founded in 2025 to find balance for New Jersey’s forests, farms and families. In this role he’s contracted to the New Jersey Conservation Foundation. He has spent 25 years in the financial industry and 8 years in environmental conservation full-time, often uniting diverse parties to achieve common goals. Joe is a 2026 appointee to the NJ Highlands Council and the Great Swamp Watershed Association board. He's a founding member of the Friends of the Drew Forest, and he chaired Chatham Township's Open Space Committee for 15 years. Joe is active in Scouting America and other good causes, including the NJ League of Conservation Voters, which he served for nine years as a board member. He's a graduate of NYU's Stern School of Business and Cornell University. Joe lives in Chatham Township.
