About Anthony Arno:
Arno began his teaching career in Brooklyn at P.S. 238 and has received many awards and grants over the years. In the 1990’s Arno used the school’s only computer teach his class about historic Route 66 while students took turns bicycling the 2000 miles aboard an exercise bicycle in the back of the classroom. During the year-long teaching journey students corresponded with people living and working along the famed highway, including Chicago Mayor Daley, Route 66 authors, historic business owners, preservation advocates, and the songwriter who wrote the famous tune for Nat King Cole in 1946. In 2017 Arno launched The Route 66 Podcast.
After retiring from teaching in New Jersey after 27 years, Arno went back to school to become STEM certified and now teaches elementary STEM and advises the morning TV news broadcast with students. In addition to traveling the road every year, Arno is always searching out tales of Route 66 that might not be found between the pages of any Route 66 book. In addition to leading tours, Arno is available for both in-person and virtual presentations featuring the voices of past guests recounting firsthand stories of the world’s most iconic highway.
