Candidates Statement

Time for New Voices in Mendham Borough Council

As we have been stating since the start of our campaign for Mendham Borough Council, transparency and access are critical for successful local government. We believe this transparency and access should begin the moment you announce your candidacy. It is vitally important that voters know who you are and what you stand for. To this end, we created a website and Facebook page before the primary. We made ourselves available for an interview so we could be profiled in the Observer-Tribune. We have been knocking on doors for the last couple of months. We have held multiple events to speak to voters and answer their questions directly. We were recently interviewed by Mendham TV to talk about our campaign and what we will bring to Council.

Recently our opponents were profiled in the Observer-Tribune, but as the writer stated, “Neither Republican responded to requests for interviews and the information was gleaned through their Facebook page and other sources.” They also did not respond to a request from Mendham TV for an interview. It is clear that our opponents are not interested in transparency or access.

After 25 years of single party rule and with little accountability, it is past time for a change. We propose a Council that encourages dialogue with residents, grants access to meetings for all by airing them on Mendham TV, and encourages different perspectives to best reach our goal of making Mendham Borough the most desirable town in New Jersey.

The election is on November 5th. We can make history that day by electing a Council that represents the viewpoints of all residents of our lovely town.
