Chester Schools Closed Monday, Tuesday in Doubt
Power restoration estimates for the Chester Consolidated School District remains locked on Wednesday.

Christina VanWoert, Superintendent of the Chester Consolidated School District is hopeful power will be restored in time for school on Tuesday, but laid out realistic expectation in this note to parents.
Good morning,
I regret to inform you that at this point all three of our Chester Schools remain without power, therefore schools will be closed tomorrow. Jersey Central Power and Light are advising us that power should be on by Wednesday. I am hopeful for Tuesday. Another alert will be sent tomorrow with more information.
It is our goal to get as many of our children back to school as soon as possible. However, many borough and township roads are still littered with downed trees and power lines and remain closed. If your road is not safe to travel on, it is possible that in these unprecendented times, our school buses may not be able to transport your child to and from school. We may have to rely on you to do so. However, if your child cannot get to school safely, his/her absence will be excused.

The safety of our children is our highest priority coupled with getting them back to school. I am certain we will be back in school this week. I will continue to send daily udpates to keep you informed.
Until then, be well and know that this difficult time will soon come to an end. We, in the Chester Schools, will be very pleased to have all of the children back in school and to continue to assist with restoring order and normalcy to the community we all call home.
Dr. Christina VanWoert
