Chester Schools Remain Closed Until Friday

New power restoration estimates and the impending storm force district to make tough choice.

Chester Consolidated School Distict will remain closed until at least Friday, Nov. 9 according to a statement from Superintendent Christina VanWoert:

Good afternoon,

I regret to inform you that the Chester School District will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. We have been informed that the new estimate for power to be restored to the area is Friday, Nov. 9. This information, coupled with the impending nor'easter forecast for tomorrow has led us to this decision. At this time, JCPL reports that 67 percent of the township remains without power and 22 percent of the borough as well. We are hopeful for Friday, but a more realistic estimate may be Monday. We will keep you informed as more information develops. If anything changes and it is possible to open school, we will alert you immediately. At this time, we will reschedule our Halloween Parade for when we return to school. Please be safe as you continue to recover from the storm and get your lives back to normal. Be well.
