Chester Sgt. Takes 2nd in Mendham Triathlon

The Co-Ed Revolutionary Triathlon held Aug. 12 in brought out local, state and regional competitors to test their limits in a grueling course. One of those participants was Sergeant Ed Noonan of the there representing the .
“As police officers I believe we have a responsibility to be role models for our community,” Noonan said. “Children look up to police officers, and I think we need to show them the importance of being physically fit.”
The USAT sanctioned race is run by Green Brook Racing LLC and included over 275 total men and female competitors in the race from all over New Jersey. The race was a sprint triathlon and began with a swim at Sunrise Lake in Lewis Morris Park which was followed by a bicycle ride through Mendham Township that featured over 800 feet of climbing. Lastly, competitors took a trail run through the through the park to the finish line.

Noonan took second and compatriot Michael Ciampi, an Edison Police Officer and Police Unity Tour member, came in third and the complete race results can be found here.
The traffic control for the event was provided by the Mendham Township Police and the Morris County Park Police. For his part Noonan was proud to participate in the event.

“It was nice to see a great turnout for a local event held in the park,” Noonan said.
