Cops: 51 Bags of Heroin, Ecstasy, Pot Seized in Mendham Twp. Drug Bust

Traffic stop leads to arrest of duo from Paterson, police report.

A routine traffic stop led to a major haul drug bust in Mendham Township recently, and the arrest of two men occupying the vehicle.

Just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, Mendham Township police officer Robert Kalweit stopped a vehicle on Ironia Road for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign and having an overdue inspection sticker, Lt. Ross Johnson said.

During the stop, Kalweit “immediately” detected the odor of raw marijuana inside the vehicle and called for a K-9 unit to search the vehicle.
