MENDHAM, NJ — CVS Pharmacy has purchased Mendham Apothecary, the company confirmed to Patch. The switch over will happen in early April.
Owners Larry and Judy Kessler ran the family business for over 30 years, and members of the Kessler family will stay involved once the transition takes place. Larry Kessler will stay on as a consultant; son Andrew, a 4th generation pharmacist and NJ Board of Pharmacy member, will continue to lead the pharmacy team; and son Paul will stay on as a store manager. CVS says the plan to hire other current Apothecary staff members.
Mendham Apothecary will officially close on April 13, and CVS will open on April 16. The store's hours and location will stay the same.

“Our family has had the pleasure of serving the Mendham community for 30 years. We would like to thank all of our patients and employees for their loyalty and dedication during that time,” said Larry and Judy Kessler, owners of Mendham Apothecary. “We are grateful to have been able to serve the pharmacy needs of our community and we are confident that CVS Pharmacy will provide the same top-notch customer service and pharmacy expertise we have provided at Mendham Apothecary.”
The companies say they are working to ensure a seamless transition for patients, and don't anticipate interruption to pharmacy care. Over the next few months, the store will start introducing CVS brand products and the CVS Pharmacy ExtraCare program, the chain's savings card.
