Daily Record Reporter Killed In Rt. 10 Crash: Police

The journalist, who previously reported for Patch, was killed in an early Sunday morning crash.

RANDOLPH, NJ — A local news reporter was killed in an early Sunday morning car crash, Randolph Police confirmed.

Lindsay Ireland, 26, was identified as the pedestrian killed in the early morning crash, police said on Monday. Police say Ireland was walking in and out of traffic along Route 10 east, attempting to "slap" one car. As police were responding to the scene, Ireland was hit by a car, police said.

According to police, Ireland was wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash and was not visible until illuminated by headlights just before the crash. The car that hit her did not drive away, police said.

Ireland spent last summer as an intern with Patch in New York City. "Lindsay had a real passion for writing, particularly about music and food," said her manager, Adam Nichols. "Her work had a joy about it and she had a really promising career ahead of her. This news is devastating to all of us who knew her and we share our condolences with her family."
