Dickerson Second Grade Multicultural Dance Celebration
Second graders at Dickerson School learn about various cultures through dance.

Second Grade students at Dickerson School in Chester participated in a Multicultural Dance Residency with Arts Council teaching artist Joanna Pang Atkins. Students learned folk dances from France, India, Dominican Republic, Japan, and the United States and presented them onstage for their classmates and parents. The students spent two weeks, with only five or six practices, learning their dance routines. They learned about the culture of each country and the origins of each dance as well. Students also learned about cooperation, teamwork and self-confidence. The staff and students of Dickerson School would like to express their gratitude to Mrs. Atkins, Mrs. Vince and the Chester PTO for providing our students with a phenomenal educational and cultural learning experience.
