Dietz & Watson Recalls Deli Meat With Unlabeled Nuts

MOUNT OLIVE, NJ— A New Jersey company is recalling nearly half a ton of deli meat after it didn't include pistachios as an ingredient on the label, the USDA said.

Dietz & Watson, based in Mount Olive, N.J., is recalling 468 pounds of its Deli Thin Mortadella packages, after a distributor noticed the nuts through the clear packaging. The meat is not supposed to include pistachios, and the ingredient was not on the label.

Only the 3-ounce plastic packages with Lot# LO23633800 and a Best By Date of April 2, 2017 are affected by the recall. The recalled packaged have the establishment number "EST. 7543B” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The meats were shipped to a distributor in Pennsylvania, and then sent to retail and distribution centers in seven states:

• Arizona
• California
• Florida
• Michigan
• Nevada
• New Jersey
• Oklahoma
• Pennsylvania
• Texas

So far, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions, but customers who bought the meat are asked to throw them out or return the to the place of purchase.
