Doyne's Kopila Valley Efforts Garner Drew University's Prestigious 'Peacebuilder' Award

Mendham native to be honored in hometown on May 11.

So how does one person follow up being named a CNN Hero of the Week? With more accolades for furthering the success of others, of course.

Mendham’s Maggie Doyne, globally known for her effort to start Kopila Valley Children’s Home nearly a decade ago, along with the creation of the BlinkNow Foundation.

In early April, Doyne was named CNN’s Hero of the Week, and in May, she’ll be receiving yet another honor, this time very close to home.

The second annual gala for Drew University’s Center on Religion, Culture & Conflict will honor Doyne as a Peacebuilder for “her community-building work in post-conflict Nepal, through education, healthcare, empowerment and sustainability,” the event site said.

The event’s keynote speaker will be Christopher Rodriguez, Morris County resident and Director of the Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness of the State of New Jersey.

The gala will be held in Mendham on May 11 with a VIP Reception at 6 p.m., followed by a dinner and the award presentation at 7 p.m.
