Dunkin Donuts Proposal To Be Discussed At Mendham Borough Meeting

Do you want a Dunkin Donuts in Mendham Borough? Let Patch know in the comments.

MENDHAM BOROUGH, NJ — The controversial application to build a Dunkin Donuts in Mendham Borough will be discussed at a Board of Adjustment meeting in October, a borough official told Patch.

Aryan @ Mendham LLC wants to build a drive-thru Dunkin Donuts at the former Mariques Restaurant location on 25 E Main Street, Borough Administrator Richard Merkt told Patch in April. It was last discussed at a Preservation Committee meeting on July 17.

It'll be discussed at the October Board of Adjustment meeting, which is the next step in the approval process. The Dunkin Donuts would still face approvals after that.

Officials anticipate the facade of the building will remain the same, but the proposal includes a drive-thu. It's not clear how that might change the look of the building.

The proposed Dunkin Donuts has proved controversial in the Borough, with some residents saying it would taint the character of the town, and others saying it would be nice to have the chain close to home. Some residents have complained online that their anti-Dunkin Donuts signs have been stolen from their front lawns.
