Dunkin Donuts Proposal Resubmitted In Mendham Borough

The Dunkin Donuts proposal has been resubmitted, and will be considered by the planning board next month.

MENDHAM, NJ — A proposal for a Dunkin Donuts in Mendham Borough has been resubmitted to the Borough, this time without the drive-thru. After being approved by the Historic Preservation Committee, the plan heads to the Planning Board next.

Residents can learn more about the proposal at the May 14 meeting at Mountainview School cafeteria (100 Dean Road). The drive-thru has been removed from the first proposal; it was the only change made after the first proposal was withdrawn last October.

A proposal to build the chain coffee shop was first submitted in 2010, and fell through shortly after it was submitted. Aryan submitted their proposal in early 2017, but withdrew it among backlash from some local residents. Some locals said the Dunkin Donuts would taint the character of the town and cause traffic issues, while others have said it would be nice to have the chain close to home.

If approved, it would be the first Dunkin Donuts in the Mendhams; the closest location is currently on Route 206 in Chester.
