Smartsitter a hands-on, comprehensive babysitter training program for girls and
boys ages 11-16 is coming to Chester. This popular, full day, class will be
offered one day on Sept 29th from 9am to 3pm at the Field House located at 107
Seminary Ave, Chester. SmartSitter instructors are registered nurses with the
knowledge and expertise to prepare their students in every way to be successful,
safe, confident babysitters. Through many hands on activities students will
learn the skills to care for infants through school age children. Some of the
topics covered include feeding, bottle preparation, holding, burping, playtime
activities, diapering and dressing. Through role-play, SmartSitters gain many
first aid skills, accident management and prevention as well as handling choking
emergencies. Fire safety and prevention, the business of babysitting and safely
for the SmartSitter are important components of the program. Participants
receive a 35 page illustrated manual complete with family emergency forms and a
letter to introduce themselves to prospective families, plus a SmartSitter
certificate. Participants should pack water and a lunch. The course is
co-sponsored by Chester Borough & Chester Township Recreation and will be
held at the Chester Borough Field House on Sept 29th. The fee is $60 and payment
must be received one week prior to class in order to be on the class roster.
