Former Mountain View School Cafeteria Manager Passes Away
Mary York worked at the Mendham school for 25 years, and lived in town for 56 years.

Mary Irene York passed away peacefully on Oct. 23, 2017 at Atlantic Care RegionalMedical Center in Galloway Twp., NJ. She was 77. Born in Summit, NJ, she lived in Mendham for 56 years before moving to Mays Landing 2 years ago.
Mary graduated from Summit High School and then married her love John Russell York in 1960. She was the cafeteria manager at Mountain View School in Mendham for 25 years before retiring in 2004. She also worked at the St. John Baptist Convent and Retreat House for many years, while helping run a catering business.

Her family will remember her as a loving wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with family and her Yorkies on Long Beach Island, while making time to go on 25 cruises and bingo weekly.
Mary was predeceased by her husband John Russell York. She is survived by her three daughters, Karen Ellis of Egg Harbor Twp., Kim Mardis of Mendham and Kerry Grahill, along with their husbands Peter Ellis, Paul Mardis and John Grahill. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Robbie, Jamie, Jordan, Michelle, Jason, Dylan, Jessica and Emily.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. A memorial service will then be held at 2:00pm in the funeral home. Her wishes were to be cremated and buried with her parents at the Hilltop Presbyterian Church in Mendham. This interment of ashes at the cemetery will be done in private at the request of the family.
