Former School Board President, Mendham Councilwoman Dies at 89

Cortez Ritchie’s 89 years was full of life, much of it spent living to the fullest.

The longtime Mendham Borough resident died earlier this month at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, according to her obituary at baileyfuneralhomes.com.

Ritchie and her husband William D. Ritchie moved from Rahway to Mendham in 1963, after meeting and marrying in Georgia.

Ritchie served as president of the West Morris Regional Board of Education and later served as a councilwoman in the borough. She was also an elder at Hilltop Presbyterian Church.

The octogenarian is survived by a son, daughter, two brothers, a sister, and two grandsons. Donations can be made in Ritchie’s name to Hilltop Presbyterian Church, 14 Hilltop Road, Mendham, NJ 07945.
