Former Social Worker, Mendham Resident Dies

Jean Louise Shoemaker Baker passes at 85.

Jean Louise Shoemaker Baker, 85, passed away peacefully on Aug. 10, at Holly Manor in Mendham where she had been a resident for more than a year.

Baker was born on July 4, 1927 in Allentown, PA. She graduated from Cedar Crest College in Allentown and received a MSW in social work from Rutgers in 1975. She worked many years for the Morris County Department of Social Services. Jean lived most of her life in Morristown where she was a founder and long time active member of the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship.

She was predeceased by her children Brad and Patty, her first husband, Richard Baker, PhD, and her second husband Robert Mason, PhD.  She is survived by Dr. Mason’s three children Barbara Mason, MD of New Haven, CT; Jean Olsen of Glenville, NY; and Peter Mason of South Orange, NJ.

Arrangements are by the Bailey Funeral Home and interment will be private.
