Hawk Watch with David Dean

Chester Recreation is pleased to announce a basic Hawk identification class by Chester's Native Son David Dean on Saturday September 28th at 9am. This free, family friendly class will begin with a 30minute slide presentation at Chester Borough Municipal Hall Building (50 North Rd) followed by a short question and answer period that will continue on top of Seward’s Hill for live Hawk I.D in the field.
Seward's Hill is a potential good location to view migratory Hawks as they move along ridge lines.
Mr Dean will show how to properly set up and use binoculars, and then point out field markings to help I.D birds. Seward's Hill is special to Dave as his mother, Mary Jane, was an observer here during World War II for spotting Foreign Enemy Air Planes. Seward’s Hill is the highest point in Morris County with a view of NYC and features majestic views and diverse paths to explore. You are welcomed to explore the area around Sewards Hill on your own as trail maps, compliments of Chester Trails, will be available.
