Historic Mendham Twp. Property to Hit Auction Block, Benefit NJ Conservation Foundation
Former dos Passos residence being sold through Max Spann realty, report says.

Having given their land to the New Jersey Conservation Foundation decades ago, the dos Passos family wouldn’t want to see their former Mendham Township estate change hands in any other way.
The sprawling residence and land at 45 Tempe Wick Road is hitting the auction block through Max Spann Real Estate, according to dailyrecord.com, and proceeds will benefit other land conservancy projects around the state.
The auction will be held May 21, with private showings available from noon to 2 p.m. on April 26, May 3, and May 9.

The home was built in 1931 and occupied by Cyril dos Passos and his wife, Maria Amalia. Cyril dos Passos died at 99 in 1986, and Amalia moved home to her native Portugal shortly thereafter, the report said.
A second piece of property at 47 Tempe Wick Road will also be auctioned off, which was original part of the entire 91-acre tract belonging to dos Passos.
