Inaugural 'Motown Mash' Beer Brew Competition Opens Registration
Morris-area organization will award top home-made beers with prizes on Nov. 15.

So you think you can brew?
Now’s your chance to prove it at the first-ever Morris Area Society of Homebrewers Motown Mash event, inviting locals to the inaugural homebrew competition sanctioned by the American Homebrewers Association and Beer Judge Certification Program.
The event, sponsored by HOPS, Love to Brew Home Brewing Supply, and Kane Brewing Company, can register entries online at mashnewjersey.comand either drop them off at Cask & Kettle Homebrew in Boonton; North Jersey Homebrew in Sparta; or ship them to Love2Brew Home Brewing Supply in North Brunswick through 8 p.m. on Nov. 1.

Cost for each entry is $8, and participants can submit up to 12 entries in the 23 beer categories of the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines.
Certified judges will evaluate the beers and prizes will be given at a ceremony on Nov. 15 at HOPS Craft Beer Bar in Morristown. Kane Brewing Company will brew one of the top beers in its commercial system.

“Motown Mash is all about celebrating the talent of homebrewers in New Jersey and beyond,” said Tom Jambor, competition organizer and MASH board member in a statement. “We want entrants to receive top-quality feedback and help put Morristown and New Jersey’s craft beer scene on the map.”
