
Robert Hayes loved to fish and was a decorated professional in his career.
The Mendham resident died at his home Saturday at the age of 83, according to his obituary.
Hayes, a Korean War Navy Veteran, spent 40 years of his post-service life as the director of human resources for Jersey Central Power & Light in Convent Station. During his tenure, he led the Three Mile Island disaster relief effort.

Hayes loved both fly fishing and surf fishing, enjoyed cooking and gardening. He also coached little league baseball when his children were younger.
He is predeceased by his wife, Josephine. He is survived by three sons and three grandchildren.

A celebration of Hayes’s life will be held at Leber Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at 15 Furnace Road in Chester.
