Korean War Vet, Mendham Grandfather Dies at 86
John Jaycox moved to Mendham more than half a century ago.

John Jaycox was an accomplished man both professionally and personally.
The longtime Mendham resident died recently at the age of 86.
Jaycox was born in Englewood before moving to Chatham, then settling in Mendham 51 years ago.

Jaycox served in the Air Force as a 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955 and was a navigator and radar operator involved in 25 missions.
He graduated Colgate University and attended Law School at the University of Virginia.

In his professional career Jaycox worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone from 1956 until 1976, when he transferred to the marketing department at AT&T. He moved to the National Carrier Exchange Association in Parsippany in 1982 for the last 12 years of his career.
Jaycox loved surf fishing, sailing, playing tennis and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Judith, of 59 years; three daughters; and four grandchildren.
Visitation is set for Thursday, Sept. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Bailey Funeral Home in Mendham. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
